End of Summer Get-Aways

As the end of summer approaches and the back-to-school season looms, it's the perfect time to squeeze in one last getaway to prepare for the busy days ahead. Whether you have school-aged children or not, the end of summer can bring stress, depression, and anxiety for many. An end-of-summer vacation can boost your well-being, help you adjust to the changing weather, and get you ready for a fresh start. Here are a few ways a last min trip can benefit you.

  1. Turn It Off: Digital Detox One way to recharge is to turn off your digital devices and do a digital detox. Unplugging from your phone, laptop, or tablet can reconnect you with yourself and nature while on this getaway. This can improve your sleep and reduce feelings of burnout. Consider making this a daily routine even after your mini-vacation by unplugging for an hour each day to take time for yourself. While I love falling asleep to TikTok and sometimes waking up to it, I have to make a conscious effort to put my mind and body first. Social media has many effects on our mental well-being, so cutting it off is essential for maintaining balance. Try it and see how you feel.
  2. Mindfulness and Relaxation Another benefit of a last-minute trip, wherever you choose to go, is the opportunity for mindfulness and relaxation. Whether you're booking a spa treatment or simply sitting on a beach listening to the waves, take the time to meditate on how wonderful your life is. This can give you a sense of inner peace. Personally, I need to visit a beach every year; it's like a rejuvenating cleansing for me. I count my blessings with each wave and let the ocean take my worries away as it recedes. It gives me clarity.
  3. Physical Activity If you're not a beach person, perhaps your trip involves hiking or mountain climbing. Physical activity is a fantastic way to stay active, boost your endorphins, and improve cardiovascular health. I didn't know I liked mountains until I moved to the West Coast and found myself next to a massive mountain that screamed "challenge" every day. My family and I tried climbing it one day and loved it. We almost made it to the top! Now, we've attempted a few more climbs, and I'll tell you, it feels liberating to look back and see how high you've climbed. Just remember, coming back down is another story – do it at your own risk.

Wherever you choose to go and whatever you decide to do, make sure it's good for YOU. Good for your body, good for your soul, and good for your mind! Just being in a new environment can de-stress, recharge, and produce good vibes.

Wellness is Life, and Life is BeautYful – enjoy it! HAPPY VACAY!
